Shares jumped as Coforge delivered a one-two punch investors had been waiting for: a blockbuster June quarter with profits more than doubling, followed days later by one of the biggest AI contracts an Indian mid-tier IT firm has landed in Europe. The question now is whether the stock's premium valuation is finally catching up with reality — or getting ahead of it again.

Profits More Than Doubled, and Revenue Growth Dwarfed Rivals. Coforge reported net profit of ₹5,186 million for Q1 FY27, a 110% year-on-year surge, while revenue climbed 49% to ₹55,277 million (roughly $592 million).

Margins expanded significantly, with operating profit margins rising 285 basis points — meaning the company kept nearly three more paise of every rupee earned — to 20.3%. For context, analysts had expected roughly 80–90% profit growth, so the company comfortably beat estimates. Earnings per share jumped to ₹12.34 from ₹7.38 a year ago.

A $230 Million AI Contract Signals Europe Is Spending Big. Just days before earnings, Coforge announced a five-year, $230+ million AI-led transformation deal with a major unnamed European client — one of the largest AI transformation programs the company has secured in the region.

Coforge's Europe chief said organizations are "increasingly looking to move beyond isolated AI initiatives and embed intelligence into their core operations." That language matters: it suggests recurring, multi-year revenue rather than one-off consulting fees.

The Order Pipeline Tells the Bigger Story. Coforge's forward order book — contracts expected to convert to revenue over the next twelve months — reached $2.23 billion, up 44% year-on-year and 27% quarter-on-quarter , giving shareholders strong visibility into future revenue. That is a dramatic acceleration from the $1.55 billion order book reported a year earlier.

Valuation Demands Continued Execution. At ₹1,681.50, the stock trades at roughly 47 times trailing earnings — expensive compared to its IT peer average of about 38.8x.

Coforge still sits about 15% below its 52-week high of ₹1,989.70 , leaving room for further recovery if the company sustains this growth clip. But any stumble in deal execution or margin preservation could quickly deflate the premium. Investors are betting that AI-driven demand has structurally shifted Coforge's earnings power higher; the next few quarters will determine whether they're right.
