Chevron CEO Mike Wirth announced the company will not pay tolls to transit the Strait of Hormuz. Wirth delivered the statement during a Bloomberg TV interview as U.S. and Iranian officials negotiate a tentative ceasefire.

The proposed deal aims to reopen the waterway and reduce geopolitical tensions. Wirth confirmed that several vessels faced attacks in the strait in recent days.

Chevron currently operates six chartered vessels in the region. Ship owners retain final authority over transit decisions based on safety assessments.
