Delta Air Lines faces a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination and retaliation filed by flight attendant Mark Shannon. Shannon claims the airline dismissed him after he filed complaints with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
The legal action originates from a May 2025 incident at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. Shannon and his crew were caught in a ballistic missile attack and took shelter for two hours.
Shannon argues his subsequent termination was a pretext for his regulatory complaints. He had expressed concern that flying back immediately after the traumatic event would violate FAA duty time and rest regulations.
Delta stated the dismissal resulted from Shannon failing to follow safety protocols and being uncooperative with leadership. Shannon counters that these reasons are a cover for retaliation and discrimination. He seeks back pay and compensatory damages.
