eBay and several former executives will pay $55.7 million to resolve a civil cyberstalking lawsuit. The settlement ends over six years of legal proceedings involving Massachusetts couple Ina and David Steiner.
The Steiners, who publish the EcommerceBytes newsletter, were victims of a 2019 corporate harassment campaign. The agreement allocates $48.7 million in direct compensation to the couple.
eBay will contribute $46.15 million toward the total compensation package. Former executives, including ex-CEO Devin Wenig, will pay the remaining balance.
eBay and Wenig will also provide $7 million in charitable contributions as part of the deal. This resolution follows a previous $3 million criminal fine paid by eBay under a Deferred Prosecution Agreement.
