Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) cleared eBay’s $1.2 billion acquisition of Depop from Etsy on July 15, 2026. The regulator concluded its Phase 1 investigation and will not pursue a more in-depth probe.
eBay first announced the all-cash transaction in February 2026. The deal targets younger Gen-Z shoppers within the rapidly expanding secondhand apparel market.
Depop will maintain its brand and operate as a standalone business. This acquisition bolsters eBay’s fashion category, which currently generates over $10 billion in annual volume.
