Enbridge Inc. confirmed construction for its C$4 billion Sunrise Expansion Program will begin in July 2026. The project targets a late 2028 in-service date. It will add 300 million cubic feet per day of natural gas capacity to the southern Westcoast Pipeline system in British Columbia.

The expansion involves building 139 kilometers of new 42-inch pipeline. Customers have already fully subscribed to the additional capacity.

The project is expected to generate over C$3 billion for Canada’s GDP. Construction will create up to 2,500 peak jobs. Enbridge has already allocated over C$52 million to Indigenous businesses for the project.
