Equinor plans to expand its liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply portfolio to between 10 and 15 million metric tons per year by the early 2030s. This expansion aims to meet rising energy demand across Europe and Asia.

The company’s current portfolio is projected to reach 7 million tons per year by 2030. Half of that projected volume will originate from the Hammerfest LNG plant in Norway.

Equinor will support the growth through cargoes from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass export facility in the United States. The company is currently negotiating deals with state energy firms and fertilizer producers in India and Southeast Asia.

Equinor expects to announce a new LNG supply agreement with an Asian customer this week.
