The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends prioritizing Gilead Sciences' antiviral drug remdesivir for clinical trials. These trials target an Ebola outbreak in Central Africa.

The Bundibugyo strain causes this outbreak. Currently, no approved therapies exist for this strain. A WHO expert panel selected these candidates for evaluation.

The panel also recommended Regeneron's antibody maftivimab for trials.

Additionally, the WHO prioritized Gilead's experimental oral antiviral, obeldesivir, for trials to prevent infection in exposed individuals.
