General Motors confirmed its St. Catharines, Ontario, facility will be the third plant manufacturing the sixth-generation small-block V8 engine. This expands on previous plans for production in Flint, Michigan, and Buffalo, New York. The decision highlights GM's commitment to profitable full-size trucks and SUVs powered by internal combustion engines.
The St. Catharines plant currently produces the fifth-generation V8 engine. It also manufactures the dual-clutch transmission for the Chevrolet Corvette. The expansion secures the plant's future. Traditional engines will remain a core part of GM's product portfolio, running parallel to electric vehicle investments.
