General Motors struck a deal with Apple to integrate the Apple Music app into new Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles. This integration follows GM’s controversial 2023 decision to phase out the popular Apple CarPlay system. The company aims to provide a native solution for customers seeking access to the widely used streaming service.
The rollout begins with an over-the-air update to certain models. The feature will be available in specific vehicles, including the Cadillac Vistiq and Escalade IQ, and Chevrolet’s Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado EVs.
GM confirmed that customers can stream music through the OnStar Basics system. This service will be provided at no additional cost for eight years from the time of vehicle purchase.
GM views the move as a direct response to consumer feedback. The integration successfully brings a popular native application back into the GM infotainment ecosystem.
