GM Appoints Lucid Motors Executive as Deputy CFO and Head of Strategy

General Motors appointed Claudia Gast as deputy chief financial officer. Gast also becomes vice president of strategy, corporate development, and technology partnerships. The appointment is effective March 1.

Gast joins from Lucid Motors. She served as senior vice president of strategy and business development at the electric vehicle startup.

Gast reports to CEO Mary Barra for strategy. She reports to CFO Paul Jacobson for corporate development and technology partnerships.

The hire aligns with automakers recruiting from EV startups. This strategy supports shifts toward electrification, autonomous driving, and software-defined vehicles.
