General Motors is facing a consolidated class-action lawsuit set to begin in Michigan concerning alleged defects in its 6.2-liter V8 L87 engines. The lawsuit combines at least 10 individual class actions and alleges that engine failures are due to issues with crankshafts, bearings, and connecting rods. The affected vehicles include popular models from 2019-2024, such as the Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. This legal action follows a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigation and a recall announced by GM in April for nearly 600,000 vehicles due to the engine issue, which was linked to thousands of complaints and dozens of crashes and injuries. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit contend that the recall repairs offered by the automaker are insufficient to truly fix the alleged defects. No market reaction to this latest development in the ongoing legal case has been reported.
