Alphabet’s Google started the Android 17 mobile operating system rollout. The update is currently exclusive to Google Pixel devices. Third-party Android smartphones will receive the update throughout 2026.
The initial release introduces Bubbles to enable floating windows for all applications. Google plans a summer release for Gemini Intelligence, a suite of advanced artificial intelligence features. These capabilities will target select high-end hardware to provide proactive, agentic AI.
Additional updates include a dedicated foldable gaming mode. The system also features enhanced security and privacy controls.
