The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) selected Alphabet Inc.'s Google to supply its Gemini for Government AI system. The platform, dubbed GenAI.mil, will serve roughly three million military and civilian employees. GenAI.mil aims to help staff work more efficiently and foster an "AI-driven culture change" necessary to dominate the digital battlefield.

This partnership represents a significant development for Google’s AI and cloud services, placing its technology at the center of national security. The system specifically enables military personnel to analyze video and images more quickly.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai noted the project is particularly significant, even given the company's long history of collaboration with the U.S. government. Pichai stated the system will increase government productivity by utilizing AI within Google's secure infrastructure.
