General Motors will launch a proprietary in-vehicle AI assistant later this year. This system provides deeper integration than third-party platforms like Google’s Gemini.

The assistant leverages proprietary vehicle data and OnStar intelligence. It manages vehicle-specific commands and predictive maintenance.

The new AI will coexist with Google’s Gemini, which currently rolls out to millions of GM vehicles. GM’s native software handles internal system tasks where general-purpose assistants are limited.

This strategy gives GM greater control over its in-car software ecosystem. It aims to enhance the overall vehicle ownership experience.
