The reorganization occurred over the past year, reassigning most original AlphaFold paper authors to new projects. Staff now focus on Gemini-based systems, genomics, nuclear fusion, and Alphabet’s drug discovery unit, Isomorphic Labs.
The transition has triggered significant talent attrition. Nearly 25% of the original full-time AlphaFold authors have left the company entirely.
