Google invested €411 million ($468 million) in the German startup Proxima Fusion. The financing round values the Munich-based company at €2.4 billion ($2.7 billion). German utility RWE also participated in the funding.
Proxima Fusion will use the capital to advance the development of a stellarator demonstrator. This technology serves as a key component for future fusion power plants. The startup aims to establish Europe's first commercial fusion power facility.
This strategic investment signals Google's growing interest in next-generation renewable energy technologies.
