The White House released a policy framework urging Congress to establish a single national standard for artificial intelligence. The proposal calls for the preemption of state-level AI laws to prevent a 50-state patchwork of regulations that the administration claims hinders innovation.
The framework includes mandatory age-assurance requirements for AI platforms accessible to minors. It also addresses national security risks, intellectual property rights, and measures to combat AI-generated scams and censorship.
The administration stated it will work with Congress to codify these guidelines into federal law.
