The Court of Justice of the European Union dismissed Alphabet's final appeal against a €4.1 billion ($4.7 billion) antitrust fine. This ruling concludes a legal battle initiated in 2018 by the European Commission.
The court confirmed that Google abused the dominance of its Android mobile operating system. Google imposed illegal restrictions on device manufacturers and mobile network operators to protect its search engine.
These practices included forcing the pre-installation of Google Search and the Chrome browser. The decision is legally binding and Google has no further right to appeal.
