Honda is recalling 1,049,883 vehicles in the United States. The recall addresses a defect in emergency tire repair kits that poses an injury risk.
Affected models include 2023-2026 CR-V Hybrids and 2023-2026 Accord Hybrids. The recall also covers 2025-2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EV models.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that pressure can build within the kit's sealant bottle. This pressure may cause the cap to detach and become a projectile.
Design flaws and improperly manufactured relief valves caused the defect. Honda has received at least eight reports of injuries related to the issue.
Dealers will replace the tire repair kit's nozzle or the sealant bottle at no charge to owners.
