Harmony Gold Mining closed a new syndicated, multi-currency loan package. The facilities comprise US$500 million, A$500 million, and R7 billion. Banking commitments reached approximately three times the targeted amount.
Harmony will use the funds to refinance 2022 loans and the MAC Copper acquisition bridge facility. This refinancing lowers funding costs and extends the company's debt maturity profile. The new structure also strengthens overall liquidity for general corporate purposes.
Australian dollar-denominated funding aligns the capital structure with growing copper assets in Australia. Sustainability-linked loans tie borrowing margins to renewable energy and community development targets.
