Infineon Technologies AG officially opened its new Smart Power Fab in Dresden, Germany, three months ahead of schedule. The €5 billion facility represents the largest single investment in the company’s history. This site will become the world’s largest manufacturing center for smart power semiconductors and analog/mixed-signal technology.
The expansion doubles Infineon’s production capacity in Dresden. The project creates approximately 1,000 new jobs. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to generate €5 billion in additional annual revenue.
Production will focus on high-demand sectors including AI data centers, renewable energy systems, and the automotive industry. Infineon accelerated the setup and qualification processes using a virtual fab concept powered by digital twins and AI.
