Intel is investing €5 billion ($5.7 billion) to expand and upgrade its manufacturing campus in Leixlip, Ireland. This capital expenditure targets the surging global demand for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing chips.
The upgrade focuses on increasing production of Intel 3 silicon wafers. The facility will also produce next-generation Xeon processors essential for data centers and AI applications.
The project will install advanced manufacturing equipment and integrate factory modules to boost capacity. This investment represents a significant portion of Intel’s planned 2026 capital spending.
The expansion will create several hundred new jobs at the Irish facility. This move strengthens Intel's European manufacturing footprint to address rapid AI sector growth.
