Iovance Biotherapeutics reported positive interim results from its Phase 2 IOV-COM-202 study of lifileucel, a tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy, in patients with advanced melanoma. The data were presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress.
The objective response rate was 41% among 153 heavily pre-treated patients. Many responses were ongoing beyond 12 months. Lifileucel’s safety profile was consistent with previous findings.
The results point to lifileucel’s potential as a treatment option for patients with advanced melanoma who have limited alternatives. Iovance plans to submit a Biologics License Application (BLA) to the FDA later this year.
The company also announced the pricing of a $200 million public offering of common stock to fund continued development and potential commercialization of its TIL therapies. The capital is expected to support preparations for a potential product launch.
