Eli Lilly reported positive Phase 2 results for EloraTZP, its next-generation obesity drug. Patients taking the drug lost an average of 23.3% of their body weight. Patients taking tirzepatide alone—the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound—lost an average of 14.8%.

EloraTZP combines tirzepatide with eloralintide, an amylin receptor agonist. The combination acts on three hormonal pathways involved in appetite and satiety.

Lilly said EloraTZP is set to advance to Phase 3 trials later in the fourth quarter. The results support Lilly's strategy of building a broad pipeline of obesity treatments as it competes with Novo Nordisk for leadership in a weight-loss market estimated to approach $100 billion by the end of the decade.
