Eli Lilly released late-stage clinical trial data for its next-generation weight-loss drug, retatrutide. The drug led to a 30.3% average reduction in body weight. This weight loss occurred over a two-year trial period. Study participants had a BMI of 35 or higher. Lilly presented these results at the American Diabetes Association conference.

The TRIUMPH-1 study showed a 73.1% improvement in knee osteoarthritis pain. Sleep apnea episodes decreased by 60.6% during the trial. Patients tolerated the drug well, particularly at lower doses. Analysts view this tolerability as a key competitive advantage.

Eli Lilly shares rose as much as 5% in pre-market trading. The data positions retatrutide as a potential best-in-class treatment. These results reinforce Lilly's dominant position against competitors like Novo Nordisk.
