Roche reported that patients using its experimental drug enicepatide lost 22.7% of their body weight. This result occurred during a 48-week mid-stage trial. The weight-loss trajectory did not plateau, suggesting potential for further reduction. Over 25% of high-dose patients achieved a top-tier result. These patients lost at least 30% of their body weight.

Analysts project the annual obesity drug market could exceed $100 billion. These results compete with Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy, which showed approximately 15% weight loss. The Wegovy results were recorded after 68 weeks. Enicepatide also rivals Eli Lilly’s Zepbound.

Enicepatide is a once-weekly injection. It mimics both GLP-1 and GIP hormones. This development may shift investor sentiment and increase competitive pressure in the healthcare sector. The results signal a broadening competitive landscape beyond current market leaders.
