DePuy Synthes, Johnson & Johnson’s orthopedics division, is establishing a new Global Capability Centre in Bangalore, India. The hub will focus on innovation and engineering, specifically software development, data, AI, and cybersecurity. The company expects to hire approximately 500 professionals at the site. This recruitment will take place over the next two years.
This expansion occurs as Johnson & Johnson evaluates strategic options for the unit. In late 2025, the company announced plans to separate DePuy Synthes into a standalone entity. By February 2026, reports indicated J&J was also exploring an outright sale of the business.
The division could be valued at over $20 billion. This investment signals continued commitment to the unit’s technology infrastructure despite uncertainty regarding its future ownership.
