Johnson & Johnson reported positive Phase 3 MajesTEC-9 trial results for its multiple myeloma treatment, TECVAYLI (teclistamab-cqyv). The study showed the drug improved progression-free and overall survival in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who had received at least one prior therapy.
Data presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting showed the treatment reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 71% compared to standard care. TECVAYLI lowered the risk of death by 40% in this patient population. The New England Journal of Medicine concurrently published these findings.
These results position TECVAYLI as a potential new standard of care for patients as early as their first relapse. Nearly two-thirds of patients achieved a complete response or better. The drug offers a durable, steroid-sparing option for this blood cancer.
