The estate of the late singer Johnny Cash has filed a federal lawsuit against The Coca-Cola Company, alleging the unauthorized use of a voice imitation in a national advertising campaign. The complaint, filed on November 25 and reported by multiple outlets on November 27, claims the ad for the 2025 NCAA college football season features a voice that sounds “remarkably like” Cash's signature bass-baritone. The lawsuit accuses Coca-Cola of violating Tennessee's new Ensuring Likeness, Voice, and Image Security (ELVIS) Act, in what could be the first major legal test of the legislation. The estate is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a court order to stop the advertisement from running. Coca-Cola has not yet issued a public response to the allegations.
