Eli Lilly launched its oral weight-loss and type 2 diabetes pill, Foundayo, in the United Kingdom on Monday.
The UK is the first European country to offer the once-daily tablet, chemically known as orforglipron. This oral treatment provides a more convenient alternative to traditional injectable therapies.
Patients will initially access the medication through private prescriptions. Britain's medicines regulator authorized the drug for use earlier in August.
The move positions Eli Lilly to compete directly with Novo Nordisk’s oral offerings in the growing British weight-management market.
