Activist investor Dan Loeb's firm, Third Point, has sold its entire position in semiconductor equipment manufacturer Lam Research (LRCX). According to a Q2 2026 disclosure filed on August 14, the firm liquidated all 75,000 of its shares, which were previously valued at approximately $16.02 million. This exit was part of a broader rebalancing where Third Point also sold its stakes in KLA (KLAC) and Nvidia (NVDA), among other names.

It is important to note that quarterly 13F filings reflect trades that occurred in the preceding quarter—in this case, the period ending June 30, 2026. The specific reasons for the sale were not disclosed. Lam Research posted strong fiscal results in late July, after the trade period, driven by high demand for chips used in AI applications.
