NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory selected Intuitive Machines (LUNR) to support the EAGLE-VSWIR Earth observation mission. The company will provide its IM 300 spacecraft platform. It will also handle system integration and manage mission solutions, including ground segment support and operations.
The mission is scheduled for launch in 2028. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The project uses a hyperspectral instrument to observe Earth’s surface biology and geology. This mission also serves as a technology demonstration for future Moon and Mars exploration. This award represents the second low-Earth orbit science mission contract for Intuitive Machines from NASA.
