McDonald's now operates in every provincial-level region across mainland China. This expansion marks a major milestone for the fast-food giant in the critical growth market.
The company solidified its nationwide footprint by opening its first locations in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Qinghai province. These final restaurants opened over the weekend of December 20-21, 2025.
McDonald's first entered mainland China in 1990. As of November 2025, the company already operated over 7,500 restaurants. These locations spanned more than 280 prefecture-level cities and employed over 200,000 people.
