Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will invest up to ₹200 crore to establish dedicated trading platforms for coal and minerals. This initiative supports government efforts to improve domestic price discovery and reduce reliance on international benchmarks.
MCX will allocate approximately ₹100 crore to each new exchange. The company has already incorporated separate entities for these operations.
SEBI has approved the investment. MCX still awaits final operational licenses from the Coal Controller Organisation and the Indian Bureau of Mines.
The platforms will trade commodities including iron ore, bauxite, and limestone. This expansion diversifies MCX’s revenue beyond its current focus on energy and precious metals.
