MDA Space confirmed the launch and deployment of eight replenishment satellites for Globalstar’s constellation. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carried the payload from Cape Canaveral on August 15, 2026. The satellites are currently undergoing in-orbit commissioning tests.

This mission marks the first time MDA Space has served as prime contractor for a commercial communications constellation. The company designed, manufactured, and tested the hardware at its Montreal facility.

These eight satellites are part of a 17-unit order. Nine additional satellites are currently in the final stages of integration. The new units will extend the operational life of Globalstar’s direct-to-device network.
