The Metropolitan Police's Cybercrime Unit is investigating a former Meta engineer for allegedly bypassing company security. The individual reportedly created a program to extract approximately 30,000 private photos from Facebook user accounts.
Authorities arrested the London-based suspect in November 2025 following a referral from the FBI. The former employee currently remains out on bail for suspected unauthorized access to computer material.
Meta discovered the breach and is now cooperating with law enforcement. The incident involved photos that users had not made public. This event marks another significant privacy and security lapse for the company.
