Meta Platforms is facing a renewed legal challenge as an amended complaint has been filed alleging the company systematically overcharged advertisers by approximately $4 billion between 2013 and 2017. The lawsuit, filed by Iron Tribe Fitness in the Northern District of California, claims that a coding change in 2013 led to these illicit profits at the expense of its customers. The complaint cites a former Facebook executive who allegedly quantified the impact of the coding change at '$1B a year'. This legal action aims to restore claims against the social media giant. Meta had previously argued for the dismissal of the complaint, contending that the claims were outside the four-year statute of limitations in California and that the plaintiff had not sufficiently alleged they were overcharged. The filing of this amended complaint reopens the legal battle.
