Meta Platforms unveiled "Meta Compute," its major initiative to build next-generation artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company plans a massive $600 billion investment by 2028.

The investment will fund the development of AI data centers designed to power future AI tools and experiences. Longtime Meta executive Santosh Janardhan and Daniel Gross will co-lead the project; Gross will specifically handle strategic planning.

In a related leadership announcement, Meta appointed Dina Powell McCormick as President and Vice Chairman. McCormick is a former Trump administration adviser and Goldman Sachs executive.

McCormick will play a key role in the Meta Compute initiative. Her mandate focuses on partnering with governments and sovereigns to facilitate the global investment, deployment, and financing of Meta’s extensive AI and infrastructure projects.
