British regulator Ofcom opened an investigation into Meta Platforms on Friday. The probe assesses whether Meta provided complete and accurate information regarding its WhatsApp messaging service.

The inquiry stems from Ofcom's review of the wholesale market for business bulk SMS messages. Ofcom stated that available evidence suggests the information received from Meta may have been incomplete and inaccurate.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed the company takes its regulatory obligations seriously. Meta stated it will cooperate fully with the investigation, which adds to the global regulatory scrutiny the company faces.
