Newly unsealed court documents reveal a February 2025 text exchange where Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg offered support to Elon Musk. [1, 12] Zuckerberg's message noted that Musk's government team, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), appeared to be "making progress" and offered to have his teams at Meta take down content that was doxxing or threatening people involved with the initiative. [4, 5]
The texts were revealed as part of Musk's ongoing lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman. [12] Following Zuckerberg’s offer of help for DOGE, Musk pivoted the conversation to ask if Zuckerberg would be interested in jointly bidding for OpenAI's intellectual property. [5, 12] While Zuckerberg seemed open to a live discussion, Meta ultimately did not join the bid. [7, 12]
