Meta Platforms is negotiating a deal exceeding $6.5 billion with Samsung Foundry. The agreement focuses on manufacturing next-generation AI accelerator chips.
Samsung will utilize its advanced 2-nanometer process for future versions of the Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA). This partnership marks a strategic shift from Meta’s previous reliance on TSMC for its first two chip generations.
The collaboration includes chip design services to support a rapid six-month development cycle. These custom processors will power Meta’s expanding data centers and AI computation requirements.
