Moderna and Merck announced positive five-year results for their personalized mRNA cancer vaccine, intismeran autogene (mRNA-4157), combined with Keytruda.
Researchers presented the Phase 2b KEYNOTE-942 trial data at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting.
The study monitored patients with high-risk stage III/IV melanoma over a median follow-up of five years.
The combination therapy reduced the risk of cancer recurrence or death by 49% compared to Keytruda alone.
The treatment also decreased the risk of distant metastasis or death by 59%.
These durable outcomes support the ongoing advancement of the therapy into larger Phase 3 trials for melanoma and other cancers.
