Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence firm G42 is in exploratory talks to sell a majority stake to U.S. companies. This strategic move aims to guarantee long-term access to advanced American AI chips.

The company’s current authorization to purchase these chips without a license expires around April 2027. G42 is chaired by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Adviser of the UAE.

G42 previously divested from Chinese interests and phased out Huawei equipment to align with U.S. policy. These actions facilitated a $1.5 billion investment from Microsoft in April 2024. A majority U.S. sale would further resolve ongoing national security and export control concerns.
