Microsoft officially announced the acquisition of Osmos, an AI-driven data engineering platform. Osmos specializes in automating the cleaning and transformation of data from various sources, a process critical for preparing data for AI model training and analysis.

The technology significantly shortens data preparation cycles. It reduces the required time from weeks to just hours, ensuring higher quality data for AI applications.

The Osmos team will integrate into Microsoft’s data platform department. Microsoft plans to deeply embed the technology within Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory.

This move directly strengthens Microsoft's end-to-end data solutions. The acquisition provides customers building intelligent applications with a more comprehensive and automated toolchain, increasing competitive pressure on independent data cloud vendors.
