Microsoft introduced Microsoft-Decision-1, a new artificial intelligence model. It targets rapid, automated decision-making in enterprise settings.

Unlike large language models (LLMs) that generate text, Decision-1 provides structured outputs. It assesses predefined options for tasks such as classification, routing, and workflow governance.

CEO Satya Nadella announced the new model. He highlighted its superior performance in latency and quality for structured tasks.

Company benchmarks reportedly show Decision-1 is 35 times faster than OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol. The model is also significantly more cost-effective.

Microsoft built the model by post-training Alibaba's open-weight Qwen3.5-9B model. It is currently undergoing internal testing for quality control and incident response.
