OpenAI is partnering with digital payments leader Pine Labs to accelerate its strategic expansion into the Indian market. The collaboration will leverage OpenAI’s artificial intelligence to enhance enterprise payment solutions and develop AI-driven commerce services.
This move coincides with OpenAI’s broader regional growth strategy, which includes opening a New Delhi office. The company is also establishing partnerships with Indian educational institutions to support its local operations.
Pine Labs’ subsidiary, Setu, previously integrated AI platforms like ChatGPT in December 2025 to enable conversational bill payments. The current partnership signals a deeper integration of advanced AI into India’s digital payments ecosystem, spanning payment processing and merchant value-added services.
