Micron Technology will officially break ground on its historic megafab in Onondaga County, New York, on January 16, 2026.

The project represents the largest private investment in New York state history. It is set to become the largest semiconductor manufacturing facility in the United States.

The new facility is central to Micron’s strategy to meet surging global demand for advanced memory chips. These chips are critical components for artificial intelligence systems.

The campus plans to eventually include up to four fabrication plants. Micron executives will join federal, state, and local government officials to commemorate the start of construction.
