Micron Technology broke ground on a new advanced wafer fabrication facility in Singapore. The project represents a planned investment of approximately $24 billion over the next decade. The facility will be located within Micron's existing NAND manufacturing complex. It aims to meet escalating global demand for NAND flash memory, crucial for artificial intelligence and data-centric applications.

The facility will be Singapore's first double-storey wafer fab. It is expected to add 700,000 square feet of cleanroom space. The project will create around 1,600 new jobs.

Production is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2028. This reinforces Singapore's role as a key hub in the global semiconductor supply chain.
