Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiated the inauguration of Micron Technology’s new semiconductor assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The project represents a total investment exceeding $2.75 billion (Rs 22,516 crore).

The Sanand plant marks Micron’s first manufacturing presence in India. The facility is expected to create approximately 5,000 direct jobs once it reaches full operational capacity.

Operations will focus on converting DRAM and NAND wafers into finished memory products for both domestic and international markets. At full capacity, the facility is projected to account for 10% of Micron’s total global production. This expansion diversifies the company’s manufacturing footprint to meet rising global demand for memory and storage solutions.
